Tebow retires from baseball

Looks like the end of an era, as Tim Tebow retired from professional baseball this week.  I am not sure what he has planned  next but it appears he will not be playing any sport.  I assume he will continue his broadcasting career with the SEC (ESPN) channel.   click to read more from gatorsports.com

Tebow was back in Gainesville recently...

Tim Tebow is back in the news this week...  this time working with a charity to raise money - Tebow was in Gainseville to join forces with Allstate and lend his time to the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida. Tebow and volunteers helped sort and pack donated non-perishable food into backpacks to be delivered on Friday to area students, kindergarten though high school, in need. The kids take the backpacks home for the weekend and return them Monday, so they can be refilled the following weekend.

the AJC game coverage of this year's Florida-Georgia game

Being in a suburb of Atlanta and about 45 minutes from the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga, we don't see the Florida Gators in the papers each week...but this week was different!

Headline of the Sunday sports page above...

Tebow makes the news, he was at the game, on the sidelines...

Game Day: Ole Miss at Florida 7 PM ESPN

Ole Miss will be heading into the Swamp to face the Florida Gators tonight at 7 PM.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
I just heard on SEC NATION that 21 of the Gators have the flu
and that includes QB Will Grier.
Will's dad is quoted as saying "Flu or no flu - nothing can keep his son from playing tonight!"
This will be a big test for the Gators, who are in the polls for the first time since 2013,
coming in at no. 25 in the AP poll - Gators are 4-0  , on a roll, Go Gators!

Game Day: Tennessee at Florida 3:30 today

Tebow and SEC Nation at the Swamp today!
Gators welcome Tennessee into the Swamp today -
Game time @ 3:30 and broadcast on CBS.
Temps will be in the mid-80's and should be good weather for a football game,
but you never know when it will rain in Florida!
So far the new ball coach is working out great for the Gators.
Coach McElwain had to suspend a couple of players this past week,
but that should not affect the Gator game.
Go Gators!

Tebow quotes the Bible :"Be anxious for nothing"

Picture from foxsports during Eagles-Ravens game last week
Tim Tebow gives his view of his own progress in the pre-season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trying to make the team , he quotes the Bible , says he tries to be "anxious for nothing."  Tebow gives a good explanation for his attempt at a touchdown during the 4th quarter.  The touchdown was overturned but the Eagles went on to score a touchdown on the next play.

Tim Tebow is not just good for the NFL....

I have always enjoyed reading the work of sports writer Mike Bianci - he wrote for the Florida Times-Union many years ago and now writes for the Orlando Sentinel.  This week's article was about the good things Tim Tebow does for needy children around the country, and around the world,  for children with special needs - "caring for the least of these" as the Bible tells us is the heart of Tim Tebow.

Mike says it well ... "Tim Tebow provides the NFL with a special need" Click to read more

Tim Tebow gets the 4th quarter to show what he can do this week

For the Gator nation, you have to admit the game is a little more interesting when Tim Tebow comes in to play QB. Nothing against Sam Bradford, an excellent QB and the starter for the Eagles it appears,or the other two QB's.  But watching Tim Tebow give it his all trying to make the team as the 3rd string QB is just fun!

SB NATION posted this article with several GIF type videos to watch from the game last night.

Tebowmania in PA this weekend

The latest news is that the 1st string QB Sam Bradford will not be playing Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles (unless the coach changes his mind). That means we may see more of Tim Tebow in their first pre-season game and according to this AP article Tebowmania is sweeping through Philly!

No longer wearing the no. 15 jersey,  you will find the former Gator QB Timmy Tebow sporting no. 11 this year.

Tim Tebow released by the Jets

Best news this Gator fan has heard all week !

The Jets released Tim Tebow today (FINALLY!).  Tim deserves much better than the way he was treated in the past year. I am sure he is a better person because of this, but I am glad they released him!   I can't wait to see where he goes from him.

Keeping up with former Gator, Tim Tebow

While we "wait" for the Gators football season to begin, we might as well keep up with former Gator Tim Tebow. He seems to be in the news everyday now - signing contracts for his own shoe with Nike, Jockey commercials for underwear, and finally a contract with the Broncos.

On July 21st, the Denver Post article discussed Tebow and the Broncos - "Just how much "wild horse" offense should we expect to see this season? Or, to put it another way, just how much Tim Tebow?"

After Lance Armstrong and LeBron James, "Tebow was recently ranked the third most influential athlete in the nation, according to a poll conducted by Encino (Calif.) E-Poll Market Research." read the article at gatorsports.com ...

On July 30th, the Denver Post interviewed John Elway who spoke about Tebow also -"The focus has been on Tebow because of what he did at college, but those other young guys have to come in and play too," Elway said. "You can't expect him to do it by himself." click to read the article...

On July 28th, even Focus on the Family had a post about Tebow - "Tim Tebow, the Denver Broncos first-round draft pick and Focus on the Family's favorite QB, is in the news again today, this time for signing on as a spokesman for Jockey underwear." click to read the article...

And on July 29th, the biggest news for Tebow fans - he finally signed his contract with the Broncos - "Rookie quarterback Tim Tebow officially became a Bronco on Thursday afternoon after signing a five-year contract only two days and three practices late."
