Gators spring football practice - "a lot of stuff going on"

Tim Tebow and backup quarterback John Brantley are having a good spring practice. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution even sent a sports reporter to check out things in Gainesville.

"For a team that returns its entire defense plus the 2007
Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, there is a lot of stuff going on."

Orange and Blue Game

With basketball season over, we can concentrate on baseball and spring football. The Gators will end spring football practice with the Orange and Blue Game on Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 pm. Ticket sales open at 9:00 am ($5 for general public and free for UF students, of course) and the Gator Fan Fest opens at 10:00.

Tebow motivated his team to win the National Championship with these words. The university has recently posted them to a wall near the Swamp.

Tebow sculptured from an oak tree in Gainesville

Chainsaw artist Sam Knowles was hired to turn a dead oak tree into a scuplture of Tim Tebow. This sculpture is in front of the Ballyhoo Grill in Gainesville.

Now that football season is over...

I can turn my attention the Gators basketball team, now that football season in over. I could have watched the BCS game repeat telecast this week but I didn't. So basketball season is really here! I have two favorite teams in college basketball and the Gators are one of those. (You will have to check my other blog to find out the name of the other team.) The Gators played a good game today against Arkansas and Florida won the game 80 - 65 . Sorry, my dear wife is from Arkansas so I can't brag too much! Nick Calathes (pictured at right) led the Gators with 28 points. The team is starting to gel, so I think we may be seeing these Gators during March Madness. (Click to read recap at ESPN)
