Gators lose to Auburn again

Can you believe it? Yes, Auburn did it again, as one paper summed it up "Deja Blue" and another headline read "Auburned again!" Catchy headlines but they don't make us Gator fans feel any better. The Gator nation was stunned when Auburn kicked a field goal to win with just 3 seconds left in the game. Of course, we could not be too surprised after the way the team played during the first half of the game. Too many penalties hurt our chances and there was no "swarming Gator defense" during that half. I wonder what Coach Meyer said to the guys during halftime! It was great to see the "real" Gator team come out and play in the second half, rally from being down 17-03 and tie the game in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. We can all agree on one thing though, it was one exciting game of football!

Gators play Tigers in the Swamp

You remember that Auburn game last year, right? The one loss that almost knocked the Gators out of contention for the SEC and the National championship? Last year that game took place in Alabama, in mid-October. This year it is back in the Swamp, and it's pay-back time!

Tebow takes over

This was by far the closest and most intense game of the year so far! (Please don't make me nervous like that, it's bad for the heart!) The Ole Miss Rebels came on strong and they were within 3 points of a tie (27-24) in the 4th quarter. With another field goal to make the score 30-24, the Gator defense was able to stop the Rebels on their final possession. Going for it on 4th down, the Rebels came up a few yards short of a 1st down and the Gator offense took over as the fourth quarter winded down. Quarterback Tim Tebow just ran the ball over and over as the clock wound down. He took a knee with about 40 seconds to go and the game was over.

Gators play at Ole Miss today at 12:30

Pregame review at scout.com
It’s not often the Florida Gators venture into the state
of Mississippi. And recent history has shown that Dixie hasn’t been kind to the Gators.

This is the fourth game of the season for the Gators (3-0) and is not a nationally broadcast game, but we get to watch it in GA on Charter cable channel 3. You can click on this link and listen to the radio broadcast via the internet from AM930/the Fox in Jax.

Several other good games on TV today include Clemson vs NC State at 12 noon, Michigan State vs Notre Dame at 3:30pm, South Carolina vs LSU at 3:30pm

Gators Reflect On Victory

Florida Gators players Percy Harvin and Tim Tebow and head coach Urban Meyer reflect on their resounding 59-20 win over the Tennessee Volunteers (from CBS)

Gotors can rely on Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin turned it up a notch in last week's game . . . read about the new Percy Harvin at gatorsports.com

Last week, for the first time(this season,) he practiced every day at full speed and entered the Tennessee game at full go. The results were impressive.

Vols fall to the Gators in the Swamp

The fifth-ranked Gator football team improved to 3-0 after defeating conference rival Tennessee 59-20 in front of 90,707 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in the conference opener for both teams. read more at gatorzone.com

Gator headlines

The biggest game of the season is usually against the Tennessee Volunteers and I think this year is no exception. We know the Gators played the first two games against what we would call easier opponents and this is the first "test" of the year. The SEC regular season begins today for the Gators. The game is at the Swamp and will be on CBS game of the week at 3:30 pm today.

One of the names you heard a lot during last week's game was Kestahn (key-ston) Moore. Gatorzone (University of Florida website) posted this article on Moore: Stepping Up and Breaking Through

Florida Gators 59, Troy Trojans 31

The Gators win tonight, but it wasn't a blowout. Give the Troy Trojans credit for playing tough as they scored almost 31 unanswered points in the second half. Things were a little shaky for the Gators in the 2nd half. After scoring 7 touchdowns in the first half, the Gators struggled a bit to keep their offense going in the 3rd quarter. Tim Tebow finally took the ball and ran with it. Near the end of the game he had 14 carries alone. It was a good game and the Gators have a week now to get ready for SEC play, starting with Tennessee next Saturday afternoon . . . Oh My! By the way it was a nice change listening to the radio voice of the Gators play by play via the internet. I think he said "Oh, My!" about 15 times.

Tebow's turn to lead dream team

This headline posted on gatorsports.com (the re-designed website for the Gators provided by the Gainesville Sun newspaper) caught my eye:

It's Tim Tebow's Turn to lead his dream team.

The article gives some insight into the Tebow family and includes some advice for Tebow from former QB Danny Wuerffel (see excerpts below)

“It's going to be exciting,” Pam Tebow said. “A mother's view is a little different. I'm going to love him whether he throws an interception or a touchdown.”

Wuerffel also said he'd advise Tebow to focus on what is important. And third, “When you have a heart for people like he does and I do, you have to learn that 'no' is not a bad word

Gators blowout WKU

Even though the game ended with about 9 mins to go because of the weather - rain & lightning - it was really over by half-time. Western Kentucky was just no match for the Gators, and the Gators played like they had just "picked up where they left off." One notable interview during the telecast was with former Gator QB Shane Matthews (early 1990's) who said he was impressed with the way Tebow played today, showing more maturity as the QB.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (ESPN.com news services) -- Tim
Tebow
ran out of bounds following a short gain and got a forearm to the chest from Western Kentucky's Cody Hughes.
"I think that was the hardest hit of the day," Tebow said.
It certainly was one of the few times Tebow was touched.
