Tebow retires from baseball

Looks like the end of an era, as Tim Tebow retired from professional baseball this week.  I am not sure what he has planned  next but it appears he will not be playing any sport.  I assume he will continue his broadcasting career with the SEC (ESPN) channel.   click to read more from gatorsports.com

Tebow was back in Gainesville recently...

Tim Tebow is back in the news this week...  this time working with a charity to raise money - Tebow was in Gainseville to join forces with Allstate and lend his time to the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida. Tebow and volunteers helped sort and pack donated non-perishable food into backpacks to be delivered on Friday to area students, kindergarten though high school, in need. The kids take the backpacks home for the weekend and return them Monday, so they can be refilled the following weekend.

Another Gator legend in the news

Another Gator legend, Danny Wuerffel, will be featured on ESPN this week.
"Weurffel's Way" will air on Friday at 7:30 pm.

"Friday is the eve of the 10th anniversary of the horrific storm that devastated New Orleans and destroyed Wuerffel’s home there. An ESPN documentary, “Wuerffel’s Way,” on Wuerffel’s experience and good works in Katrina’s aftermath will air at 7:30 p.m. Friday – and again at 9 p.m. Tuesday on the SEC Network."

The 'Ol Ball Coach against the Young Whippersnapper!

And we have a new quarterback - at least for now.  Tyler Murphy was injured in the last game - he took over after Jeff Driscoll was injured in the Tennessee game.  Skyler Mornhinweg, freshman QB from Philadelphia area, took over this week against the Gamecocks and I thought he did well in his first game.

Of course, the game was more of a match-up of  between the former Gator player and coach Steve Spurrier and the newest Gator coach Will Muschamp - it was more like the 'Ol Ball Coach against the Young Whippersnapper!  Click link to read "Freshman Faces"

Keeping up with former Gator, Tim Tebow

While we "wait" for the Gators football season to begin, we might as well keep up with former Gator Tim Tebow. He seems to be in the news everyday now - signing contracts for his own shoe with Nike, Jockey commercials for underwear, and finally a contract with the Broncos.

On July 21st, the Denver Post article discussed Tebow and the Broncos - "Just how much "wild horse" offense should we expect to see this season? Or, to put it another way, just how much Tim Tebow?"
