Senior Day at the Swamp - Gators beat FSU

It was the last game in the Swamp for Tim Tebow, Brandon Spikes, David Nelson, and many other seniors on this years team. Yesterday's game was an emotional one for fans, players and coaches. Check the links below for a variety of posts by other bloggers and the media.

From USAToday.com:

"Fifteen broke down pretty good when he was coming through that tunnel," Meyer said of the Senior Day introductions, in which Tebow's eyes were filled with tears as he ran up and hugged his coach.

"It was special," Tebow said. "A memory I will always have."

From GATOR BYTES -Florida vs Florida State in photos:

It is not too early to say that Saturday’s football game between Florida and Florida State will go down as the most memorable game ever played in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

From TIMTEBLOG:

Tebow Swamp Finale

Again: The most powerful part of the game setting had nothing to do with anything that Tebow or Florida could control -- it was all about the fans.

From ESPN.com, Pat Forde writes "Generosity of spirit separates Tebow"

"I've never seen anything like it," Florida coach Urban Meyer said. "… He's made unselfish kind of a cool thing."

And a final thought...How often do you hear the scripture quoted during a football game? Sportscaster Vern Lundquist quoted Hebrews 12:12 incorrectly as Tebow's eye-black was Hebrews 12:1 & 2. But he did correct himself and went on to quote verse 1 during the second half of the game. Thanks to Tim Tebow for using his talent to spread the gospel!

1.Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the
right hand of the throne of God.

Gators dominates FIU, as expected, 62-3

Tebow scores on a 55 yard run in the 1st quarter!

Unless you went to the game or chose to pay to watch the game televised (pay-per-view) then you had the afternoon off today as a Gator fan. Oh, I checked the score via the internet once, but as expected, the Gators dominated Florida International University Panthers in the Swamp. Even though Tebow started the 2nd half, it seems John Brantley was able to take over as quarterback for most of the second half.
It is a picture-perfect fall day in Gainesville, Fla. It's
sunny, cool and crisp at 72 degrees. Florida wins the toss and defers to the second half, so FIU will receive the opening kickoff.

Gators prevail over the Gamecocks, 24-14

This turned out to be a tough game for the Gators, but then I guess when playing former Gator coach Steve Spurrier, anything can happen. Click this link to read the recap and watch highlight video of the game. Gators defense prevailed and won the game, final score 24-14.

Ahead 24-14 after Tebow's score, Florida's defense got after the Gamecocks. The Gators sacked Garcia four times in the fourth quarter. Joe Haden's interception with two minutes left sealed Florida's 20th straight victory -- and fourth in a row over its former head ball
coach.

Offense sputters, but No. 1 Florida tops Vandy

Gators defeated Vanderbilt 27-3 in a not-so-exciting game. The next few games could be more challenging as the Gators still have to play the ol' ball coach and SC Gamecocks as well as the Florida State Seminoles. Both are always tough games for the Gators. Gators are now 9-0 for the year and should be headed to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game in December.
