With a 6-6 season completed, the Florida Gators have been selected to face another 6-6 team in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2nd in Jacksonville, Florida. The Gator Bowl game will feature a rematch of two teams that played for the National Championship a few years back - yes the Ohio State Buckeyes. This should be interesting....

Florida vs FSU
The Florida Gators will be hosting the Florida State University Seminoles in the Swamp for the final home game of the season. Hoping the seniors on the team get a big win over their in-state rivals. Gators have home field advantage and could come away with a win. Go Gators!

Florida beats Furman, 54-32
You can't tell from the score, but Florida had a very bad first quarter, giving up 22 points to Furman before they finally took the lead. I guess the Gators thought Furman was going to be an easy team to beat, so they were obviously caught off guard by a talented bunch of Paladins. It would have been a close score except for a couple of Furman turnovers in the fourth quarter. It wasn't a pretty game but it was a win! John Brantley, pictured above, threw a career-high four touchdown passes today!

Gators welcome Furman into the Swamp today
Game time today is 1 PM - Furman University, a small college from Greenville, SC comes into the Swamp today. This should be an easy win for the Gators but the way the season has been going, no one can predict how the game will go. The game will not be televised, but it might be available on the internet at ESPN3.com.
Go Gators!

Gators lose to the ol' ball coach!
What happened? The Gators had a chance to tie the score and make it 14-14 but missed their try for two extra points. And then in the fourth quarter, we had the ball and a chance to score a touchdown and win. It was not to be. South Carolina holds on to win 17-12 and the Gators, well they might not even make it to a bowl game at this point.
Hopefully with a win over Furman and Florida State, they will see some action in the post-season.
The picture above pretty much sums up the game! (Jordan Reed reaches for the touchdown pass but comes up short during the second half.)

Florida Gators play Spurrier's Gamecocks
They say South Carolina wants to play in the SEC Championship game really, really bad! We will see how much they want it tomorrow when the Gamecocks play the Gators. Game time 12 Noon in Columbia, SC on CBS.
So the Carolina Gamecocks have the home field advantage, but their best player (Marcus Lattimore) is injured and out for the rest of the season. So I think the Gators have a good chance to win this one. Go Gators!

Florida beats Vanderbilt
Saturday's win of Vanderbilt was much-needed after losing 4 games in a row. It was great to see John Brantley (pic at right) back at QB and a good solid performance by Jeff Demps.
Final score was Florida 26, Vanderbilt 21

Vanderbilt at Florida - today at 12:21 pm
What can we expect out of the Gators today? Both Florida and Vanderbilt have 4-4 records. After losing their 4th game in a row, the Gators really need to win this one. At least they have the home field advantage! Game time is 12:21 pm and will be on local SEC TV stations (Peachtree TV in ATL) or can be watched on ESPN3.com

the view from north of the border
Ever wonder what the Georgia fans are thinking about the Florida Gators? As a current resident of Georgia, I can verify that this is the one week of the football season when there will be a lot in the newspapers about the Gators. The rest of the season, not so much. Sunday papers are almost void of any highlights of the Florida games played on Saturday, so I really do miss the Florida newspapers. Gator searching for answers
I am not speaking for the coaches, but I know "Gator Nation" is searching for answers after our third loss in a row. Saturday's game was not a pretty picture and there were too many mistakes by the Gators "special teams". The Gators actually had a chance to score with about three minutes in the game but could not catch and return a punt. Wow! We have a week off and then we face the Georgia Bulldogs.

OUCH! Gators overwhelmed by the LSU Tigers
Now we know why they are no. 1 in the nation. At least there was some spark in the 3rd quarter as the Gators pulled with 16 points (2 touchdowns), but the 4th quarter was all LSU.
The picture above and this headline from Fox News says it all "No. 1 LSU Overmatches No. 17 Florida 41-11"

So who is Jeff Driskel, anyway?
According to this article posted at Gatorsports, Jeff Driskel is expected to become the first freshman to start at quarterback
at UF since Chris Leak in 2003 when the Gators play at No. 1 LSU this Saturday afternoon.

Wishing John Brantley a speedy recovery!
It was a tough game for Gator QB John Brantley who was injured just before half time Saturday night. Brantley's play was outstanding so we can only pray for a speedy recovery for him. It appears he will miss this week's game, but there was no broken leg. Alabama was the better team this time, but if the Gators can pull it together and win the rest of their games, they will get to play them again in the SEC Championship.

Gators host Alabama in the Swamp
The next three weeks will define the season for the Florida Gators as the Gators face Alabama, LSU, and Auburn. First challenge, this Saturday night at 8 PM the Gators host the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the Swamp. Just another SEC game? No, not quite. Alabama comes in to town ranked no. 3 in the AP poll and no. 2 in the Coaches Poll. Can the Gators play with the big boys? We will find out tomorrow night - Go Gators!

Gators moving on up after defeating Kentucky
I'm sure that Gator fans are excited and happy as they read the latest polls today - both the AP and Coaches Polls have the Florida Gators moving on up to the #12 spot. The convincing win at the University of Kentucky last night is the reason why. The Gators are playing the best football that I have seen in two years. At 4-0, they don't get to rest either. The next three games are going to be the toughest teams to face the Gators this season! We will finally get to see what this year's Gator team is made of - they play Alabama, LSU, and then Auburn. Go Gators!
Click to read ESPN recap - Jeff Demps had 157 rushing yards! It was amazing watching him kick it into high gear last night!

Gators survive 4th quarter Tennessee comeback!
The Gators had a great game plan yesterday - give the ball to Chris Rainey. Rainey carried the ball 21 times for 108 yards and caught two receptions for 108 yards! I must give Tennessee credit for making this a tight game during the last quarter (my nails are missing today!) But the Gators held on for 10 point win, 33-23.

Tennesee at Florida, today 3:30pm
First game of the SEC season today at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka "the Swamp", in Gainesville, FL. The Tennessee Vols come into the Swamp to face the Gators at 3:30 pm and the game will be on CBS TV and on CBSSports.com online. It should be a good game and we will get to see how this year's Gators will match up against their first SEC opponent of the year. Go Gators!

Gators win second game of the season
As expected, the Gators had an easy win over the University of Alabama at Birmingham Saturday night. The final score was 39-0. I actually recorded the Florida-UAB game while watching a very exciting Georgia vs South Carolina game. It was too late for me to stay up and watch the 4th quarter, but I did not miss anything as the game was over by the 3rd quarter. John Brantley played well, but I thought the highlight reels belong to Chris Rainey (1) , running back. He seemed to be in every other play during the first three quarters, very impressive!

Gators win first game of the season
Happy Gator fans everywhere! The Florida Gator football season is off to a good start. The team played well and had little trouble beating Florida Atlantic Saturday night 41-3. I thought John Brantley had a great game at QB and with Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey running the ball, the Gators were able to score easily.

Let the season begin!
Watching College Gameday on ESPN this morning, and like all football fans, I am excited that the season is finally here. To me this brings back memories of my high school years such as: playing in the Cowpens High School marching band at football games all over Spartanburg area, our championship football season when I was a senior, COOLER WEATHER! Well, I could go on and on, but for us Gator fans we are looking forward to getting to know our new coach at Florida (Will Muschamp) and seeing if QB John Brantley has improved from last year.

Gators down but not out - no. 22 in AP Preseason Poll
So the preseason polls are out and Florida is way down the list on both the "Coaches Poll" and the "AP Poll". Well, it is way too early to predict what will happen this fall, but I am sure the Gator Nation has high hopes for another good year of football. Hopefully better than last season, but with a new coaching staff we will have to wait and see!
I am also glad to know Jeff Demps (#2) is returning.

Gators lose in the 11th inning!
I had a bad feeling when the Gators had the bases loaded and no outs and could not score. One run would have won the ballgame. So the Gators lost in the 11th inning to the Gamecocks last night. Game 2 of the College World Series Finals is tonight on ESPN.

A touching article - Coach Donovan's Secret Sorrow
I read this article at yahoo.com the other day and thought many of you would like to read this. I never knew that Coach Billy Donovan had lost a child at birth, so not only was this an enlightening article, it was well written by Jason King and will tug at your heart strings. (Alert: keep tissues handy)
“No staff,” Grant says, “has ever experienced what we experienced. What happened with all of us … I wouldn’t wish that on anybody.”Click to read Billy Donovan's Secret Sorrow
