Gators face Crimson Tide for SEC Championship

This is the surprise of the season

in college football...
the Florida Gators with their
first-year head coach
Jim McElwain
are playing today for the
SEC Championship.

Gator fans are hoping the team that showed up last week is not the same team that shows up  this week.

Losing to FSU was a miserable game, for sure,
but we are hoping that the Gators play their best  game today!

Go Gators!

Florida - Georgia game today at 3:30 PM

Today is the big game of the year , at least to date -  Florida needs this win in order to secure their path to the SEC East Championship.  If the Gators play as well as they did two weeks ago against LSU, I think they can pull this off and win.

Gators fall to the Mad Hatters Tricks again

LSU Coach Les Miles is known as "the Mad Hatter" and he pulled another "trick play" out of the hat last night.  Not a new trick,  but one that ended in the winning touchdown last night. LSU was set up to kick the ball away on 4th down, but instead of planting the ball, the holder threw the ball to the kicker - who then scored the go-ahead touchdown.
Gators QB Treon Harris played with confidence, this being his first starting game of the season.  And the Gator defense played well until the trick play that is.    Gators lose 35-28.

Gators face LSU in Baton Rouge tonight!

The Gators go into hostile territory with a 6-0 record, but with a QB change this week who knows what to expect.
Of course the coach says "it will be fun."

Gators prepare for LSU

What a difference one week makes!  A lot of interesting things in the news for Gator fans to ponder. The old ball coach, Steve Spurrier, resigned as coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks.  QB Will Grier was suspended for possibly a year after finding out he took an over the counter supplement with a banned substance.  The team is hopefully focused on the game before them - the LSU Tigers will be a tough team to beat.  I predict QB Treon Harris will step up to the challenge.

Game Day: Florida Gators travel to Missouri 7:30 PM

The Gators travel to Missouri to face the Tigers tonight at 7:30 PM EDT. After a great game last week, with the Gators beating the Ole Miss Rebels 38-10, we can expect another win tonight - at least if they keep playing like last week.

Coach McElwain said this week that he is "interested to see if our team is a one-hit wonder, you know, like The Cyrkle with 'Red Rubber Ball' (See link below)

Tonight's game will be broadcast on the SEC network, or you can watch at watchESPN streaming video online.

Game Day: Ole Miss at Florida 7 PM ESPN

Ole Miss will be heading into the Swamp to face the Florida Gators tonight at 7 PM.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
I just heard on SEC NATION that 21 of the Gators have the flu
and that includes QB Will Grier.
Will's dad is quoted as saying "Flu or no flu - nothing can keep his son from playing tonight!"
This will be a big test for the Gators, who are in the polls for the first time since 2013,
coming in at no. 25 in the AP poll - Gators are 4-0  , on a roll, Go Gators!

Gators come back from 14 points down to win!

Wow! what a game!
I was already feeling "down and out" as the Gators were 14 points behind late in the game Saturday.
On 4th down and 13 to go, QB Will Grier (7) connected with Antonio Callaway to complete a 63 yard catch-and-run touchdown!
Oh... My...!!

Game Day: Tennessee at Florida 3:30 today

Tebow and SEC Nation at the Swamp today!
Gators welcome Tennessee into the Swamp today -
Game time @ 3:30 and broadcast on CBS.
Temps will be in the mid-80's and should be good weather for a football game,
but you never know when it will rain in Florida!
So far the new ball coach is working out great for the Gators.
Coach McElwain had to suspend a couple of players this past week,
but that should not affect the Gator game.

Gators over the Wildcats 14-9

Both Kentucky and Florida began the night at 2-0 but the Gators prevailed to win their third game of the season at Kentucky last night.   Will Grier looks to be the starting QB for the Gators going forward.

Coach McElwain was asked that question after the game but refused to make that decision until Monday.

the new ball coach has some work to do

The Gators hung on to win this week 31-24, beating East Carolina at the Swamp.
The last time we played ECU was in the bowl game in Birmingham eight months ago.
ECU had a chance to score and send the game into overtime or score and add a two point conversion to win the game, but the quarterback somehow dropped the ball while throwing and the Gators recovered to end the game.  As you can read in this link, the new ball coach was not too happy with the way the Gators played the game...click to read more.

Another Gator legend in the news

Another Gator legend, Danny Wuerffel, will be featured on ESPN this week.
"Weurffel's Way" will air on Friday at 7:30 pm.

"Friday is the eve of the 10th anniversary of the horrific storm that devastated New Orleans and destroyed Wuerffel’s home there. An ESPN documentary, “Wuerffel’s Way,” on Wuerffel’s experience and good works in Katrina’s aftermath will air at 7:30 p.m. Friday – and again at 9 p.m. Tuesday on the SEC Network."

Tebow quotes the Bible :"Be anxious for nothing"

Picture from foxsports during Eagles-Ravens game last week
Tim Tebow gives his view of his own progress in the pre-season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trying to make the team , he quotes the Bible , says he tries to be "anxious for nothing."  Tebow gives a good explanation for his attempt at a touchdown during the 4th quarter.  The touchdown was overturned but the Eagles went on to score a touchdown on the next play.

Tim Tebow is not just good for the NFL....

I have always enjoyed reading the work of sports writer Mike Bianci - he wrote for the Florida Times-Union many years ago and now writes for the Orlando Sentinel.  This week's article was about the good things Tim Tebow does for needy children around the country, and around the world,  for children with special needs - "caring for the least of these" as the Bible tells us is the heart of Tim Tebow.

Mike says it well ... "Tim Tebow provides the NFL with a special need" Click to read more

Tim Tebow gets the 4th quarter to show what he can do this week

For the Gator nation, you have to admit the game is a little more interesting when Tim Tebow comes in to play QB. Nothing against Sam Bradford, an excellent QB and the starter for the Eagles it appears,or the other two QB's.  But watching Tim Tebow give it his all trying to make the team as the 3rd string QB is just fun!

SB NATION posted this article with several GIF type videos to watch from the game last night.

Tebowmania in PA this weekend

The latest news is that the 1st string QB Sam Bradford will not be playing Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles (unless the coach changes his mind). That means we may see more of Tim Tebow in their first pre-season game and according to this AP article Tebowmania is sweeping through Philly!

No longer wearing the no. 15 jersey,  you will find the former Gator QB Timmy Tebow sporting no. 11 this year.
